I hear the remake of this game is extremely faithful to the original even to its own detriment if that interests you instead but I wasn't a fan of the art style of the remake so decided to go with the original, the cheaper price also helped. I didn't use a guide and only used a mod to match the audio and subtitles of the audio logs as reading and hearing two different things at once was annoying for me. If you somehow read that and decided you're still interested in the game then you're probably like me and enjoy the old and janky games more than a lot of modern games in which case I would heavily recommend it. A tiny switch pixel in a massive floor layout that you can't progress through unless you find that switch. The room is also heavily irradiated so you wouldn't want to stay there long and search every pixel. A small pixel of a switch that perfectly blends into the wall texture. I had the difficulty level set to 2-2-2-2 -Its not like I struggled that much with fights in the Classic Edition. The switch to deactivate the forcefield is in the exact same room with the item. Notes: -I just finished the first level -I played about half of it in Classic Edition (clunky controls), then moved save files to the Enhanced Edition (modern controls). Now, I would not say I am very smart but I maybe naturally assumed the way to get past this force field was a secret passage or switch in another room, but no. System Shock's floor layout act as a labyrinth with secret passages and rooms in every corner with a fairly big level of each floor. One example from the top of my head is one certain puzzle where an item is locked behind a force field. It features extensive backtracking and extremely unintuitive design and puzzles. After a few playthroughs, I managed to cut it down to 4-5 hours, so this is. Average playthrough is Id say, 8-10 hours, at least thats how it was for me. It is absolutely not built for the modern expectations of games. The game itself is quite hard, but not that much, even on the Hard difficulty of Combat, just remember to save your game and explore everything throughly the first time, and you will be fine. However, I would not recommend this game to anyone I know. ) 7h is a lenient timer anyway, so if you do it for the achievement, just go for it, you will hardly notice the higher difficulty. Since buying the Enhanced Edition comes with the original, it was easy to compare the two, despite me. A fantastic game that lives up to a lot of praise I've heard about the System Shock series. The only way to change the story would be to change the 'mission' parameter - and this doesn't actually change anything, rather it takes away from the story ( takes away audio logs etc. The first thing to address is what has actually been updated in this enhanced version.
